Athlete Endorsements

The only MLB player who makes more off the field than Ortiz is the retiring Derek Jeter. Since leading the Red Sox to their third World Series during his tenure, Ortiz has added endorsement deals with Dunkin' Donuts, Fanatics and New Balance. Ortiz inked an agreement with Samsung this year and took the selfie passed around the world with President Obama. His jersey was MLB's top-selling jersey during the offseason.

Michael Jeffery Jordan (born February 17, 1963), also known by his initials, MJ,  is an American former professional Basketball player, entrepreneur, and principal owner and chairman of the Charlotte Hornets. He played 15 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for the Chicago Bulls and Washington Wizards. After his Pro career Michael still makes $80 million a year. He has endorsement deals with Gatorade, Nike, Hanes, Coca-Cola, MCI, Wheaties, and Rayovack batteries

A-Rod signed the 2 biggest contracts in baseball history—$252 million with the Texas Rangers in 2000 and $275 million with the Yankees in 2007. The Yankee deal includes $30 million in additional compensation if he reaches certain home run targets. Endorsements have been few for A-Rod despite his star stature. He earns $2 million annually off the field from sponsors Nike, Rawlings, Topps and Vita Coco.

Peyton Manning added a record fifth MVP trophy and third Super Bowl appearance in 2014, further cementing his legacy as one of the greatest quarterbacks of all-time.. The QB landed in Denver in 2012 with a five-year, $96 million contract that requires him to pass an annual physical in order to get paid. Manning is the NFL's top product endorser; earning $12 million annually off the field from companies like Buick, DirecTV, Gatorade and Papa John's. Manning became a Papa John's pizza franchisee in 2012 when he signed a deal to own 25 stores in the Denver area. Manning parted ways with Reebok this year after 12 years together, but added Nationwide to his endorsement portfolio.

Mike Trout, one of the leading icons in baseball today has signed some major endorsement deals. some include Body Armour Super Drink, Nike, and Rawlings.

After Miguel Cabrera achieved a Triple Crown in 2012 (the league’s first since 1967), he almost did it again in 2013, with numbers that were just about the same or better than the previous season (OBP of .442 , 44 homers, and 137 RBIs). With that track record, some analysts think Cabrera could get the Triple Crown again. And many more will tell you he’s the best player in baseball. You have to wonder why big endorsement deals haven’t followed, but he does have Chrysler and New Balance.

The Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews became one of the most marketable players in the NHL after winning the Stanley Cup and Conn Smythe Trophy in 2010. He has endorsement deals with Bauer Hockey, Canadian Tire, Chevrolet and Lemonhead.

Andrew Luck the quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts doesnt have too many endorsement deals. He only has an endorsement from Body Armour Superdrink, and TD ameritrade.
